Although most of the ruckus is surely caused from on-field play, the FIFA World Cup always doubles up as a platform to showcase new hardware, mostly revolving around the game ball and its upgraded technology. This latest news focuses on the international tournament’s holy grail, which will be featured within this custom trophy case from Louis Vuitton. Made from the finest of textiles and boasting the brand’s signature monogram design, this special case offers a stylish home to the solid 18-carat gold trophy.
Like all Louis Vuitton special orders, the FIFA World Cup Trophy case was made at the company’s original workshop in Asnières, which opened in 1859. The case opens at the front and at the top to allow the Trophy to be removed easily when, at the final on 11th July in Johannesburg, watched by many millions of people across the globe, it will be presented.

Väth V18K Mercedes-Benz C-Class with Sport Package

If you’re looking for a way to spice up your somewhat conservative Mercedes C-Class, German tuning firm Väth has unveiled a new series of enhancements for the model under the moniker V18K. I know, the prospect of altering your traditional C-Class may sound somewhat daunting for those of you already fond of your standard C, but not to worry, as the V18K is by all accounts a relatively minor tuning program when compared to the vast number of other Mercedes tuning programs available.

From a mechanical standpoint, changes come by way of software optimization program, the result of which is a 31 hp improvement in the C200. With its newfound 215 total horsepower, top speed in the C-Class rises, increasing 3 mph to 149 mph. Outside, modifications are again fairly restrained. A new front apron, a black radiator grille sans Mercedes star, black 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and stainless steel exhaust system are all present, while completing the package is a tweaking of the suspension, resulting in a ride height 45mm lower in the front and 35mm lower in the rear.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell Prototype First Look

If you checked my blog, you would see I profiled the SLS a few months ago...this is the electric version and its a crazy innovation.

We’ve known about the all-electric Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell for quite some time now, as Mercedes detailed the model last July, but new specs, photos and video have all emerged demonstrating in greater depth what we can expect from the forthcoming electric supercar. The biggest question – performance – is said to be nearly that of the traditional SLS AMG, with with total output coming in at 526 horsepower and 649-pound-feet of torque thanks to the E-Cell’s four electric motors. That’s enough to propel the SLS AMG E-Cell from 0-62 mph in 4.0 seconds, compared to 3.8 seconds in the standard SLS.

The N63 twin-turbo V-8 engine of the 750i has been developed with completely new electronics and a computer-assembled wiring loom. The turbos are enlarged and the exhaust system has been enhanced so as to reduce back pressure. The results of ALPINA’’s work is manifest both on paper and on track. 500 hp is achieved at 5,500 rpm along with a staggering 516 lbs-ft of torque from 3,000 to 4,750 rpm. The engine produces 113.8 hp/liter on its way to a 6,550 rpm redline.Harnessing all of this power to the ground are massive 21 inch, 20-spoke light alloy ALPINA wheels. Several decades ago, ALPINA discovered that the optimal design compromise between weight and strength is found in a 20 spoke wheel design. From that time forward ALPINA adopted these unique wheels across every vehicle they’ve produced.

Form follows function in the ALPINA design ethos, and this can be seen from every angle of the B7. A rear deck-lid spoiler is subtle in style but highly functional, alterations to suspension set up are felt from the first corner, powerful brakes halt the large car effortlessly and the powerful engine is nothing less than fear inspiring.
