A cool new campaign from BMW uses an optical illusion called an afterimage effect to cause viewers to see the BMW logo when they closed their eyes after seeing the commercial. Check out the video and see how they did it….but we have to get flashed ourselves to believe it.

BMW has figured out a way to burn itself into perspective customers' heads – or at least their eyes.

Lighting manufacturer Profoto worked with BMW on a commercial in which light effects let viewers temporarily see "BMW" when they close their eyes, according to theHuffington Post .

The company used an optical illusion called an "afterimage" effect.

Wired.com reported it was created by hiding a Profoto Pro 7B studio flash unit behind the screen at a German movie theater. A card with the letters "BMW" cut into it was placed in front of the light.

The flash fired during the advertisement and burned the letters into the viewers' retinas. As a motorcyclist in the commercial told people to close their eyes, they did so and saw "BMW" projected onto the backs of their eyelids.

An afterimage is also known as a ghost image, according to Wikipedia . The most common is the bright light that seems to float before someone's eyes if the person looks into a light source for a few seconds then looks away

The M3 is powered by the S65B40 engine, a naturally aspirated, high revving 4-liter V8 (based on the S85B50 5-liter V10 that powers the E60/E61 M5 and the E63/E64 M6 to date) delivering 414 horsepower (309 kW; 420 PS) at 8,300 rpm and peak torque of 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) at 3,900 rpm.
Based on the A5 coupe, RS5’s 4.2-liter V-8 makes 450 hp at 8250 rpm – coincidentally, about 30 horsepower over the 4.0L V8 of the M3 – and maximum torque is 317 lb-ft, available between 4000 and 6000 rpm. Now with the 2010 Panamera sedan, Porsche fills out its lineup with a truly spacious four-door that makes few compromises in its search for buyers seeking shattering power, great handling, and real room for four adults. It's no four-door coupe, like the Aston Martin Rapide or the Mercedes-Benz CLS, but a true "gran turismo." On sale in October 2009, the 2010 Panamera starts from a base price of $90,750 for the rear-drive Panamera S sedan, moving up to $94,750 for the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4S, and to $133,550 for the turbocharged, all-wheel-drive Panamera Turbo.

Like no other Porsche before it, the Panamera aims for a traditional sedan silhouette, for better and for worse. As the unconfirmed story goes, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking mandated the Panamera would have room in the backseat for his 6' 3" frame. It does-but the resulting roofline takes a compelling shape and knocks it off balance. The usual Porsche front and rear fenders frame the shape and help create a low drag coefficient, and rounded headlamps and tapered tail lamps render traditional details handsomely. The front end is low-but the rear roofline isn't, which makes the Panamera seem out of proportion, even in darker tones. As with the Bugatti Veyron, the rear end has a fastback feel that may take a few years to grow familiar. It's simply not as sleek as a Benz CLS or even four-doors like the new Jaguar XJ, and the proportions play much better on the Maserati Quattroporte.

After overwhelming responses during its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and Auto China in Beijing, the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG gave the “go ahead” yesterday to the mid-engined hybrid plug-in super car. Originally, just a case study on a perfect balance of traditional combustion engine and electric powered, the 918 Spyder’s 500-hp V8 engine works in tandem with 3 electric motors at a total output of 160 kW. This translates to a fuel consumption of 94 miles per gallon (mpg) and a CO2 emission of 70 grams per kilometer, or in layman’s term, an exotic car with CO2 footprint of a compact plug-in hybrid.

If you’re looking for a way to spice up your somewhat conservative Mercedes C-Class, German tuning firm Väth has unveiled a new series of enhancements for the model under the moniker V18K. I know, the prospect of altering your traditional C-Class may sound somewhat daunting for those of you already fond of your standard C, but not to worry, as the V18K is by all accounts a relatively minor tuning program when compared to the vast number of other Mercedes tuning programs available.

From a mechanical standpoint, changes come by way of software optimization program, the result of which is a 31 hp improvement in the C200. With its newfound 215 total horsepower, top speed in the C-Class rises, increasing 3 mph to 149 mph. Outside, modifications are again fairly restrained. A new front apron, a black radiator grille sans Mercedes star, black 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and stainless steel exhaust system are all present, while completing the package is a tweaking of the suspension, resulting in a ride height 45mm lower in the front and 35mm lower in the rear.

We’ve known about the all-electric Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell for quite some time now, as Mercedes detailed the model last July, but new specs, photos and video have all emerged demonstrating in greater depth what we can expect from the forthcoming electric supercar. The biggest question – performance – is said to be nearly that of the traditional SLS AMG, with with total output coming in at 526 horsepower and 649-pound-feet of torque thanks to the E-Cell’s four electric motors. That’s enough to propel the SLS AMG E-Cell from 0-62 mph in 4.0 seconds, compared to 3.8 seconds in the standard SLS.

The 2010 G-Power BMW M3 GT2 S is a good example. A competition-style version of the G-Power BMW M3 Tornado CS, its aero pieces are made from carbon fiber. It would take some serious gumption to drive this car on the open road outside the Nürburgring gates, because subtle it is not. It's worth a mention that this company isn't one for making outrageous disco cars. First and foremost, G-Power is an engineering firm that focuses on the mechanical side, and the only way to identify its 750-horsepower G-Power BMW M5, the world's fastest sedan now parked nearby in the Nürburgring paddock, is a handmade sign the G-Power engineers have put in the window.

There's not much that reminds you of a BMW M3. Thanks to a stripped-out interior, the use of lightweight, forged 20-inch Silverstone ClubSport wheels, a titanium exhaust system and lots of careful detailing, the GT2 S is some 300 pounds lighter. G-Power is working on an even lighter version that will reduce the car's weight by a further 200 pounds, which will put this M3 on the same footing as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Meanwhile, the motivating force of this car is a 4.0-liter BMW V8 fitted with an ASA T1-522 centrifugal supercharger, an application also seen on the Alpina B6 GT3 racecar. A dual-flow carbon air intake, a cast-aluminum intercooler and a cold air box help the engine develop a blast of power with just 7.5 psi of boost, some 600 hp at 7,800 rpm and 427 pound-feet of torque at 5,300 rpm.

So this is one of those random ones you don't expect...The group won an equivalent of American Idol or X-Factor in Nigeria..since then they have had reasonable success, and I must say I like this one.

They made history late last year, when they achieved a feat considered unprecedented in the Nigerian music industry with a collaboration with international hip hop music icon, Busta Rhymes, on Sote Remix.

The remix, which became an instant hit, was also performed by the band with the United States-born rap music star on the stage of the 2009 Star Mega Jam at Lagos and Abuja gigs.

Medvedev is especially interested in expanding business ties, and Obama hailed a deal to sell U.S. poultry in Russia, admitting it's "odd when you're sitting in historic meetings with your Russian counterpart...talking about chicken."

Serious issues remain between the nations, but their leaders worked hard to show how much better relations are, joking about nukes and Twitter, which Obama uses and Medvedev signed onto yesterday.

"So we may be able to finally throw away those red phones that have been sitting around for so long," Obama quipped, an allusion to the Hot Line set up during the Cold War to avoid an accidental nuclear shootout.

The Expendables is an upcoming ensemble action film written by David Callaham and Sylvester Stallone, and directed by Stallone. Filming began on March 28, 2009, in Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans, and Los Angeles and is expected to be released on August 13, 2010.[1] The film pays tribute to the blockbuster action films of the 1980s and early '90s, and stars an array of action veterans from those decades (such as Stallone himself, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke) as well as more recent action stars such as Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, and Steve Austin.

*sidenote* apparently Wesley Snipes, Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal should have been in the film, but politics and personal issues disrupted the move, they could be in the sequel....
